Katie Conlon Announces Candidacy for Selectman

I am running for Selectman because I love Milton and want to give something back to the town in which I was raised and have been fortunate to spend most of my life.  I also want to contribute my service in town government and my experience as an attorney to help make the Board of Selectmen more independent and effective and its
decision making process more transparent. 

Milton needs Selectmen who have a vision for its future and
who will work together in the town’s best interests as consensus builders and problem solvers.  If elected, I will work collaboratively with the other board members to ensure that our town government operates efficiently and that Milton remains one of the best communities in
which to live. 

My experience in town government includes five years as a
member of the Warrant Committee and three years as its chairman.  As chairman, I played a key role in
developing the town’s operating budget and presented the committee’s recommendations on warrant articles at Town Meetings.  I have served as a Town Meeting Member for 22
years and am a member of the Town Government Study Committee.  As a result, I have a good understanding of
Milton’s finances and operations and of the need to take a proactive approach to the challenges we face.

Additionally, I have the privilege of serving on the boards
of directors of three great institutions that continuously work to improve the quality of life of Milton residents: Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton, Fuller Village and, more recently, the Cunningham Foundation.  At Saint Mary of the Hills parish, I serve on the finance council and taught religious education to elementary school students for many years. 

I graduated from Fontbonne Academy, Boston College and
Suffolk University Law School and am employed by a law firm in Boston.

It would be an honor and a privilege to serve the residents
of Milton as a member of the Board of Selectmen.  I hope to meet as many people as possible between now and the election to discuss the issues that concern all of us.

I respectfully ask Milton’s voters for their trust and their
vote on April 30 and will work hard to earn both.
