Milton Youths Inducted into The National Honor Society

Denis Glinski of Milton, a senior at Boston College High School and John Carroll, Devin Clark, Matthew O’Malley, Charles Sargent and Richard Sullivan, juniors of Milton, were among the 96 seniors and juniors inducted into the Robert J. Fulton, S.J. Chapter of the National Honor Society at an evening ceremony January 10, 2013 at Boston College High School’s Fahey-Hunter Commons.

The evening began with a processional march by the BC High Concert Band, followed by an invocation by Mr. Michael McGonagle ’70, Vice principal of Ignatian Mission and Identity.  The band then played the National Anthem, which was followed by the Welcoming Address by Matthew Luongo ‘13 of Plymouth , President of the National Honor Society. Mr. Alfred Navarrete, moderator of the NHS did the Recognition of the Officers and Peter Bent ‘13 of Marshfield, Secretary of the NHS, followed with the Lighting of Candles.

Joseph Dwyer ‘13 of South Weymouth, Vice President of the NHS, introduced the guest speaker, Mr. Daniel Vannoni, Co-Founder of Codfish Gear and an alumnus of BC High, class of 2001.

After the induction, Michael Flaherty ‘13 of Weymouth, Historian of the NHS, read the NHS Pledge. A reception for the inductees and their parents followed the ceremonies.

The National Honor Society is established under the National Association of Secondary School Principals to provide recognition to high school students who have clearly distinguished themselves in their school and community for scholarship, character, leadership and service.

 

Boston College High School is a Jesuit, Catholic, college-preparatory school for young men founded in 1863.  The school enrolls approximately 1600 students from more than 100 communities in eastern Massachusetts.
