Fireworks Display Kicks off Big Event Weekend
The 350th Anniversary celebration fireworks will begin at 9:15 p.m. on Friday, June 8.
The Big Event Weekend for Milton’s 350th Anniversary celebration will kick off tonight, June 8, with a fireworks display at the lower fields at Milton High School.
The event will begin at 6:30 p.m., Friday with live music from the Milton High concert and jazz bands.
“The schools came through again in a big way,” said Milton 350th Anniversary Chair Lynda-Lee Sheridan of the participation of the student musicians under the direction of Dr. Noreen Diamond Burdett, Gary Good and Rebecca Damiani.
Along with two-hours of student music, food will be for sale at the field. Proceeds from food sales will benefit the Milton Public Schools PTOs, Friends and Advocates for Music Education (FAME) and the Milton Boosters.
The fireworks display, which is sponsored by the Copeland Family Foundation, is scheduled to begin at 9:15 p.m.
Sheridan said that like the Boston 4th of July display, these fireworks will be set to music.
Gile Road will be closed this evening once the MHS lot is full. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., the town will run shuttle buses from the Ulin Rink Parking Lot on Unquity Road, Town Hall and the Pierce Middle School. These shuttles will run throughout the festivities.
The rain dates for the Milton 350th Anniversary fireworks are June 9 or June 16.
