Nearly 200 Runners 'Scramble' Through Five-Mile Course

The multi-terrain race raised money for the M.A.D. Memorial Fund in honor of Michael A. Devin.

The Second Annual M.A.D. Scramble in honor of Michael A. Devin, a Milton detective who died in a 2006 car accident, was held last night, beginning and ending at Pierce Middle School.

Tom Leger, 19 of Exeter, NH and Maria Varela, 29 of Jamaica Plains, took the men's and women's overall titles, respectively.

Milton runners Jason Cakouros, 45, and Justin Renz, 38, finished behind Leger and earned first place billing in their age divisions.

In the women's overall standings, Milton's own Rebecca Padera finished third with a time of 34:35.

Nearly 200 runners finished the five mile run that took participants on a scenic trip around Turner's Pond.
