Parking, Traffic Information for 350th Anniversary Celebration Weekend
The following traffic and parking information applies to the June 8 and 9 events celebrating the Milton 350th Anniversary Celebration.
The large celebration weekend for Milton's 350th Anniversary will be held next weekend. Fireworks will be held at Milton High School on Friday, June 8, a parade will travel from Milton High to Cunningham Park on Saturday, June 9, and a field day will take place on Sunday, June 10.
The Milton Police Department has released the following parking and traffic information in regards to the events on Friday and Saturday.
Friday Evening June 8th – Fireworks
The Police Department anticipates the MHS lot to be filled quickly. Once all spots are filled, Gile Road will be closed to all traffic.
Satellite Parking- Fireworks
On Friday evening, the Town will run shuttle buses from the Ulin Rink Parking Lot on Unquity Road, Town Hall, 525 Canton Avenue, and the Pierce Middle School, 451 Central Avenue. These buses will drop off on Gile Road and will run return trips through the evening. Shuttle buses will run continuously among the lots.
Saturday June 9th Parade
Saturday June 9th, for the Parade, the following detours and closures will take effect by 1 p.m.
Blue Hills Parkway at Canton Avenue
Blue Hills Parkway at Gile Road
Thatcher Street at Central Avenue
Brook Road at Reedsdale Road
Brook Road at Canton Avenue
Brook Road at Randolph Avenue
Brook Road at Centre Street
Randolph Avenue and Centre Street
Brook Road at Pleasant St. Randolph Avenue at Reedsdale Road
Randolph Avenue at Pleasant Street
Randolph Avenue at Chickatawbut Road
Otis Street at Edge Hill Road
Boulevard and Bryant Avenue
Edge Hill Road and Bryant Avenue
In addition to the above streets, all side streets along the parade route will be closed and barricaded.
Parade Route
The parade will step off from Gile Road at 2 p.m. It will be preceded by the raising of a large American flag with a crane that is stationed on the front lawn of First Parish Church. This flag will hang across Canton Avenue above the marchers as they pass by. That will take place at 1:45 p.m. and will be accompanied by a bugler from Milton High School who will play the National Anthem.
The parade will follow the following route: Canton Avenue south to Reedsdale Road (Library Corner) turn right onto Reedsdale Road. Follow Reedsdale across Randolph Avenue (Rte. 28) to Pleasant Street, it will continue on Pleasant Street for about 1.25 miles to the front entrance of Cunningham Park where the parade ends.
Public Transit
Friday night’s events should incur no interruptions to service for either the MBTA or BAT.
The parade on Saturday will alter public bus service between Randolph and Mattapan as well as with Ashmont. The parade will also affect bus transportation between Mattapan/Ashmont and Quincy Center Station.

Parade Route Parking Restrictions
There will be no parking along the parade route beginning at noon.
Church Services
The 4 p.m. mass on Saturday June 9th, will be held 4:30 p.m.

The idea of a detour is to have signs telling people how to go around the closed streets, not simply to close them and then expect to find their own way. terrible job setting this up, need to re-think for future events.

Obviously you are not the namesake for which the scholarship was designated. Street closings were communicated well in advance. Anyway, you should have been watching the parade and celebrating this historic milestone for the 2nd BEST Town In The USA.
