Regis College Remembers Life of Milton Student

Milton High graduate and Regis College junior, Darner Alteon, died at age 20.

Darner Alteon, the 2010 Milton High graduate who passed away in a single-vehicle accident on Thursday evening, was remembered by his current learning community at Regis College on Friday.

Alteon, 20, was returning from a poetry reading Thursday night, when his 1992 Lexus LS-400 crashed on Truman Parkway on Milton.

Regis suspended classes for an hour at noon on Friday, September 21, for students to meet with campus ministers and counselors. A candlelight vigil in remembrance of the college junior was held on campus Friday night.

According to a release from the college, Alteon was “a well known and well respected student on campus.”

An unnamed nurse practitioner student penned a blog post on Alteon’s passing, Friday.

While the “Regis College BSN/MSN Nurse Practitioner Student: A Year in the Life,” author did not know Alteon, he/she offered condolence in a blog called “Perspective.”

Below is a short excerpt from the post, for the entire blog, click here.

In life it is easy to believe that things are really 'that bad'. And sometimes, all it takes is a dose of reality to remember what life is really all about. It is about living. About learning. About a friend, classmate, a son, a cousin. A young man full of promise that doesn't have a tomorrow anymore. That doesn't have a chance to be stressed, or to lose his keys or to have a cold.

…And today, more than ever, let us take a minute to gain a little perspective. Thank you
