Joel LaRue Smith Trio Jazzes up the Library

Milton resident Joel LaRue Smith will perform with his jazz trio in the Keys Community Room on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. Smith has been Director of Big Band and Jazz Studies at Tufts University since 1996 and has toured extensively throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia and the Caribbean. His music incorporates Afro-Cuban rhythms, jazz harmonies and classical elements. Free; sponsored by Friends of the Milton Public Library.

Milton Firefighters "Fill-the-Boot" for MDA

On September 21, 20 Milton firefighters raised more than $3,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association through its annual "Fill-the-Boot" drive. The International Association of Fire Fighters, of which Milton Fire is a member, is the single largest sponsor of the MDA, and has contributed more than $400 million to the organization since 1954.

MDA is dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases, and provides health care and support services, advocacy and education. Fill-the-Boot funds support MDA's local health care services, including research, clinical trials, durable medical equipment and more. Milton resident Emma Russell, 10, is a special ambassador for the organization. 

Sunday Morning Yoga

Start your week on a serene note with Yoga Sunday at Thayer Nursery. Open to all levels, the community yoga class is every Sunday from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., with bagels and coffee after class. Instructor Myriah Hampton, who trained at the Kraal Center for Yoga and Health, will help you get limber and lithe, and greet the week with mindfulness. $10 fee. 

Preschool Story Hour

"Time for Tales" at the Milton Public Library features stories, songs, and related activities for children ages 3-5 every Friday. Forego "Sesame Street" for the day and drop in at 10:30 a.m. to share the fun. Free.

Adult Walking Club

Lace up your hiking boots and join the Blue Hills Adult Walking Club in a hike on Bugbee Path to Buck Hill at 1:00 p.m. tomorrow. The club promises some hills and classifies it as a moderate to difficult hike. Meet at the Houghton's Pond main parking lot, 840 Hillside St.

Delphi Academy open house

Check out Delphi Academy during its open house on Sunday from 10:00 – 2:00. The private school, one of several Delphi academies nationwide serving preschool through middle school-aged children, will have faculty and current parents on hand to talk about the school and answer your questions. www.delphiboston.org
