Gemma Leads Fontbonne Over Milton 40-19

Milton High's Lady Wildcats basketball season started with a non-league game across town against the Ducks of Fontbonne Academy. Eastern Nazarene College of Quincy would host the contest on Tuesday, December 13.

The Ducks, led by Jennifer Gemma, were on their game as they kept the Wildcats scoreless until late in the second period when Milton scored its first two points. Milton would struggle throughout the game as the Ducks' defense broke up Milton's offense.

By the third quarter the Wildcats started putting the ball in the hoop, but Fontbonne's lead was to much to overcome. Milton lost the game the game 46-19.

Gemma (15 points -12 rebounds) and Josephine Wong (7 points) were the high scorers for Fontbonne while Milton's Nicole Peterson (5 points) led the Wildcats in scoring.

The Ducks (22-2 last year) made it to the MIAA South Division finals only to lose to Oliver Ames and are looking for another successful season.

Players Jennifer Gemma, Josephine Wong and Rebecca Olivieri are Milton residents who attend Fontbonne Academy and play for the Ducks.

The Lady Wildcats play their first home game on December 16 against Brookline. Game time is 6:30 p.m.
