Too bad we couldn't euthanize stupid people..... if we could, we wouldn't have to see any more ofRead More these blogs. John D - You skipping church too? How pathetic is it that we have to search for stories and they have come from Australia and New Zealand lately..... getting short on material Hogg? Of all those estimated 10 million (2007 est) Pit Bulls in America and you have to grab garbage stories from half way around the world? They must be a horrific menace to our society.... The real problem is you are a spineless candy ass. Just because you are afraid of something does that mean we need to abolish them? You all are pathetic excuses for human beings and are the ones that should be euthanized as you provide zero value to anyone. You all would be the ones screaming for the women in Salem to be burned or drowned. You all would have been the ones to drag people out of their homes and bring them to camps.... It is YOU PEOPLE who are the real danger to society with your pathetically weak minds and lack of any reasoning or logic based capabilities. You candyass Lemmings make me ill. I would rather be in a room with a 100 PBs than to be in a room with a single one of you despicable idiots.

#Snag Man. ~6% of the US dog population are pit bulls. ~50% of severe trauma caused by pit bullRead More attacks. A simple but major problem. And again dogs are animals not people. Pretty soon the pidiots will want to give them constitutional rights.

In any animal species it is NORMAL that there should be genetic differences that are NATURALLYRead More occurring. LGBT is such a natural occurrence. and we should not discriminating against such people any more that than we should anyone else with a genetic difference. The notion that somehow Gays need to or can be 'cured' is both horrific and immoral.

I am speaking from my personal experience as a gay adolescent back in the mid 1970's in conflictRead More with my strong religious upbringing. The bad news is that most gay adolescents who were 'indoctrinated' in religion as I was will not give up the religious conviction. The good news is that that gay folks can resolve their natural homosexuality with their religious beliefs. I prayed to both God and the Lord Jesus Christ for a cure and one night, the Lord Jesus Christ revealed to me that when God, the Father, created me, he created me to be gay and he advised me to accept it as a gift from God. Lord Jesus Christ has also warned me of a fatal, incurable form of VD going around gay men and he advised me that I have the right to say NO to whatever act I feel uncomfortable with. (That was a warning of AIDS hitting many gay men.) Prior the revelation from the Lord Jesus Christ, I have been asking questions on whether it would be better for me to commit suicide than to find myself leading others into sin. Since the revelation from the Lord Jesus Christ, have have been at peace with my homosexuality and at the same time, fired up to stand up for gay rights and to live my life openly and respectfully. Keep in mind of the following facts: Men and women and not God wrote the Bible. God created and continues to create this universe and everyone and everything within. We can either choose hate and end up suffering the consequences of sins or choose love and escape the consequences of sins and have a chance for a happy life.

I'm definitely going to add a couple of these to my summer reading list! I recently put the KindleRead More app on my tablet. I wasn't sure how I would like it, but I love it!
Anna Bucciarelli April 20, 2014 at 08:15 am
Definitely will add these to my long, long list of "to reads". Maybe I'll live longRead More enough to get to them all. Just finished an oldie but goodie ... but you know? The stories only stay with me for a while, I read so much that I forget what I've already read and after the first few pages, I get into it again and often continue since I liked it the first time around. There will never be enough hours in any day to read all I want to and thank goodness and God for Goodreads and, of course, my library and you, Danielle, for adding to my lists. Was offered a Kindle but know what? I really prefer to hold that book in my lap to read, plus I prefer to use my library ... it's FREE, for goodness sake, why would I pay to read anything but a newspaper? And, even that can be gotten at the library. If nothing else, I just love the smell of a library! (Sorry for my longwinded-ness ... just love, love books.)
Mamie Huggins April 20, 2014 at 08:37 am
Hey Anna - I'm a book lover too and use the library on occasion. But it's not FREE as you say, it'sRead More paid for by us taxpayers. Also, when I buy a book, especially by an unknown and/or local author, I'm helping that person to keep writing.

Ignorant comments from ignorant people. Dogs are not born killers no matter the breed and you allRead More need to watch the Cesar Milan show that was on NatGeo. I'm not trying to ban dogs under 20 lbs even though those are the ones I've been bitten by. It's owner responsibility or lack there of that causes these horrific incidents. JD You're 100% correct about the person walking the street. It's the owner of the dogsRead More responsibility. The mass breeding of the Pit Bull has also contributed to the problem. A big contributor to this Pit Bull mania was Sports Illustrated. In 1987 they put a pit baring its teeth on the cover with the headline "Beware of this dog". This attracted a lot of types of people that wanted them. Gang members sought the breed in droves. Back yard breeders began over breeding because the demand was so high. Many of these dogs were abused, abandoned and became sought after for the ring. To make them meaner they would pump them with steroids, beat them, chain them with heavy chains around their necks all day to make them stronger and force them with hours of exercise daily. It is human scum that have made Pit Bulls the problem. The monsters are humans not these wonderful animals. Joe R why don't you add the most savage of those animals to your list, humans.
Gus Sotirakis April 18, 2014 at 11:29 pm
The Pit Bull story repeats in a 1/2 hour at midnight tonight on Nat Geo Wild with Cesar Millan.

Doesn't matter, If the teen lives in the home or one the parents property they are responsible.Read More Their home owners insurance company can be sued as well. Putting the dog down does not negate the incident. It is like destroying the knife used to stab somebody. The stabber is still responsible. I am not a lawyer or anything like that but read enough cases and know enough victims as a Retired firefighter to know you can win on these things easily. Might not be able to get money from some of these people but you can get them banned from being able to own an animal again at the least in my opinion.
Jack Baillargeron April 16, 2014 at 05:05 pm
Would point out also that is the reason for getting leash law or town ordinances. They merely stateRead More the rule and have no age limitation. I have seen children walking a 40lb dog as young as 8 to 10. There is no way they could control that dog unless the dog has been very well trained along with the child being trained so the dog will obey it. Problem with society right now is that no one takes self-responsibility for their own action anymore (well any criminal activity or incidents like this). Idiot owners like to blame the dog also to negate their responsibility. Start throwing them in jail with sentences they would give to a person for doing what the dog does and you would have deterent. But there will always be some excuse. It sickens me to no end.

Boss Hog I see you changed your subtitle from "telling the whole story" to "helpingRead More people make decisions". Was that because I pointed out the FACT that you were NOT sharing the "whole story"? Let me point out something else, your NOT helping anyone with you simpleton approach to a Blog. I get it, you don't like certain dogs. It's your choice and your opinion. Your NON blog is just a collection of stories written by someone else and pictures that have nothing to do with the stories you recycle. It it exactly this biased reporting of a collection of horror stories about people being attacked that creates a fear of these dogs. Not all bully breed dogs are evil and bad. I feel bad for the people injured. It's terrible. But you neglect to tell the OTHERSIDE of the bully breeds. I personally know many pitbull type dogs that do good things but unfortunately we live in a drama addicted society so happy stories don't sell. you are in no way helping anyone. Try actually writing more than five bullet points about a terrible story. It would be nice to see some real discussion. It's unfortunate that many people hate these dogs based solely on the news instead of based on personal experience. I used to be that person until I actually met several pitbull dogs.

Hi Maya- I hopped back on this thread for one purpose- you and others on this thread have madeRead More sincere, intelligent comments. But you are ignoring the cardinal rule of the internet: Don't Feed the Trolls. Boss Hogg is a troll. His biased presentation of one sided material, "culled" (pun intended) from a broad, unrelated array of news sources, is classic trolling. Remember: Trolling is not just for the comments! The whole purpose of a blog can be to troll for outrage, and pageviews, as seems to be the case here.

You people all should get a life. By definition none of you who speak out against pit bulls haveRead More any first hand experience with pit bulls let alone owned, or taken care of one. My pit mix is the best, sweetest dog ever. And he was the eighth of seven prior fosters - some good, others great. I know there are bad dogs out there, and pits like any larger dog are powerful. So when they're bad, they're dangerous - but there's nothing unique to the breed that makes them so. By the way, my cocker spaniel/beagle mix is crazy and dangerous.

I lived on base while in the U.S.N. for many years and dog attacks in general were very rare. TheRead More reason? Because you could get in big trouble if your dog bit someone, like loss of rank, fined, extra duty, or kicked out of the military. The military has banned Pit Bulls on bases because they have a bad track record in the civilian world and an insurance risk.
tribble April 11, 2014 at 05:12 pm
Paul, do you follow military news? Have you seen the new navy missiles and the new stealth warship?
anon April 11, 2014 at 05:28 pm
#Paul, you bring up a great point there - that there are hefty repercussions for any dog attacks andRead More it forces people to be responsible owners and actually handle their dogs properly. The same cannot be said with the general public. Sometimes the owners may get a fine, but some don't even bother registering, fixing, or getting rabies shots. The fines for that are very minimal. I think your answer poses a big question - shouldn't we have more in place that reprimands the owners? In some states, an owner that abuses or neglects a dog can still own a dog if they choose.
