Declan Coyne wins Silver Key in the Boston Globe's Annual Art Competition

Declan Coyne of Milton, a senior at Boston College High School, won a Silver Key in the 64th Boston Globe Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition. The competition, this year presented by the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, is the regional division of a prestigious national program that recognizes the creative talents of students in grades 7 through 12.

There are three types of awards: Gold Key (highest award), Silver Key and Honorable Mention. Declan won a Silver Key in Studio Art 2D Design Photo. His work was one of 13,000+ art works submitted in 28 different categories by more than 8,000 students.

His prize work, submitted by his art teacher, Eleanor Chmiel, was one of the nineteen awards BC High students won this year. The talented students received 4 Gold Keys, 3 Silver Keys and 12 Honorable Mentions.

During the month of March, this year's exhibit of Gold Key Award Winning Art and Writing was put on display at Boston City Hall. The BC High award wining art will be on display in the Cadigan Atrium on the campus of BC High from March 31st to April 4th . The AP Studio Art & Scholastic Art exhibit will open  on Thursday April 3rd @ 5pm.
