Katharine Comber is a National Merit Semifinalist

Fontbonne Academy senior, Katharine Comber of Milton, has been named a Semifinalist in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program. More than 1.5 million juniors from over 22,000 high schools took the 2012 PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) and entered the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program.  Based on their performance on that test, less than 1% (about 16,000) have been named semifinalists, a great honor for the individuals and their schools.   Katie will now compete for special scholarships that will be awarded in the spring of 2014.  “This distinction put Katie into a very select group of young people,” said Head of School, Mary Ellen Barnes, “We congratulate Katie on achieving this personal honor as well as congratulate her teachers who helped her become a semifinalist and be included in this very prestigious group of students.”  This is the second consecutive year that Fontbonne has had a semifinalist in the senior class; last year’s semifinalist was awarded a scholarship in the spring and now attends Yale University.
