Temple Shalom of Milton Announces 2012 Chanukah Celebration

Temple Shalom of Milton will hold its Chanukah celebration at Pierce Middle School on December 9.

Temple Shalom of Milton will celebrate the Jewish holiday of Chanukah with a Community-wide Family Celebration and Fundraiser on Sunday, December 9, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at Pierce Middle School.

This family Chanukah event will be under the direction of Education Director Nancy Mollitor and Rabbi Alfred Benjamin.

The celebration, sponsored by the Temple’s Rabbi Jerome Weistrop Religious School, will include a talent show, latke tasting, menorah lighting, book swap, raffles, Chanukah songs, and traditional snacks of latkes and sufganiyot (donuts).

The event is open to the entire community.  Admission is $5/pp, $3 under 13 and free for children 3 and under, with a family maximum of $12.

This event is part of Temple Shalom’s regular observance and celebration of all the holidays on the Jewish calendar, both solemn and festive.  Chanukah is an eight day celebration of freedom, commemorating an ancient Jewish victory over tyranny and oppression against overwhelming odds. It is observed this year from the evening of December 8th through December 16th.
