What's Open (or Not) on Columbus Day

A rundown of what's open or closed on Columbus Day.

The United States recognizes Columbus Day the second Monday of October each year to celebrate the accomplishments of Christopher Columbus.

Here's a rundown of what's open and closed on Monday, October 8, 2012:

All municipal, state and federal offices and facilities will be closed. This includes schools, Milton Town Hall, the Milton Public Library, the Milton Council on Aging and all post offices.

All MBTA buses and trains will running on a reduced weekend/holiday schedule. 

Liquor stores: Open at the owner's discretion.

Retail and convenience stores: Open at the owner's discretion. 

Restaurants and bars: Most will be open, but call ahead. It's up to the owner.
