Milton Native Jenny Slate, 'Marcel the Shell,' Raises Money for Indie Film

'Marcel the Shell' is from Milton, and she's working on a movie.

According to Jenny Slate's Kickstarter Page, Obvious Child is "an honest comedy about what happens when Brooklyn comedian Donna Stern (Slate) gets dumped, fired and pregnant just in time for the worst/best Valentine's Day of her life. Forever nudged by her parents to make better choices, Donna's forced to do just that when a one-night stand leads to a difficult decision that does and does not define the rest of her life."

Slate is a Milton native, and graduated from Milton academy, according to Wikipedia. She's known for the hilariously demented, and awkward, Marcel the Shell with Shoes On shorts, as well as a season on Saturday Night Live and recurring roles on Parks and Recreation.

She's got 444 backers on her Kickstarter page, pledging more than $28,000 of the $35,000 goal to get Obvious Child to the Sundance Film Festival (at which it has already been accepted).

She also has "shoes and a face and likes that about herself."
