Milton Restaurant, Wine Shop Take Best of Boston Awards

Boston Magazine has named two Milton businesses in its "2013 Beyond Boston" awards.

Steel & Rye on Eliot Street took first place in the category Best New Restaurant, South.

"With its exposed pipes, sky-high ceiling, and wood finishes, the 7,000-square-foot Steel & Rye has an atmosphere best described as industrial-farmhouse chic, yet it’s as homey a restaurant as you’ll find—the type of place you might want to try on a ho-hum weeknight, or might want to make into a big deal for the weekend," the magazine writes.

Espirit du Vin on Central Avenue won the category Best Wine Shop, South.

"The owners here specialize in wines produced in small quantities (fewer than 10 cases). Bottles from all over the world line the shelves, designed to appeal to every budget and palate. Not only that, a quarter of the stock changes every month, so there’s always something new to try. While you’re at it, pick up some freshly baked breads and pastries, check out the mouth-watering selection of gourmet cheeses and pâtes, and make plans to attend one of the weekly tastings," the magazine writes.
