Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council Holds Essay Contest for National Disability Employment Awareness Month

Held each October, National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) is a national campaign that raises awareness about disability employment issues and celebrates the many and varied contributions of America's workers with disabilities. The Massachusetts Developmental Disabilities Council (MDDC) is pleased to support National Disability Employment Awareness Month with an essay contest. MDDC encourages all Massachusetts residents with an intellectual or developmental disability to enter.

 

Topic: Explain in 500 - 700 words what obstacles you have faced and how you overcame them to succeed in your career.

Award: The winner will receive a Certificate of Achievement from MDDC, a photo with the Executive Director of MDDC, and publication on MDDC’s website. The photo and winning essay will also be submitted for publication in local and regional newspapers. Sandy Houghton Story documentary DVD, MDDC t-shirt

Entry Format:  Essays should be 500 - 700 words, typed and double. Essays exceeding this length or handwritten may not be considered. Please include your name, address, and phone numbers (home, work, cell) in the body of the e-mail and on any copies or attachments of the essay itself.

 

Submission: E-mail your submission with the subject “MDDC Essay Contest Submission by YOUR NAME” to Cathy.Jackson@state.ma.us.

 

Entry Deadline: All essays for consideration must be emailed to Cathy.Jackson@state.ma.us by October 18, 2013.

 

Winner Announcement: The winner of the essay contest will receive an email notification from MDDC on October 25, 2013.
