A Look Back: 350th Anniversary Big Event Weekend

Look back at the parade, music and fireworks that marked Milton's 350th Anniversary.

In 2012, the Town of Milton celebrated its 350th Anniversary. Celebrations spanned the past 12 months, but no event was grander than the three-day extravaganza in June, dubbed Big Event Weekend.

From Friday, June 8 through Sunday, June 10, the 350th Anniversary Committee organized a slate of events that united all facets of the community.

“The Town of Milton’s celebration of 350 years of community was an enormous success that strengthened the ties that bind us together,” wrote Jennifer Tegan in a letter on behalf of the 350th Anniversary Committee during the summer.

The town's oversized bithday party began with firworks on Friday evening. Though rain fell during the display, a large turnout enjoyed the night at Milton High School.

On Sunday, a community picnic was held on the Town Green. The weekend ended with an eclectic concert.

The biggest highlight of the weekend was Saturday. The largest parade in town history traveled from Milton High to Cunningham Park and included an impressive array of performers.
