Milton High Faculty and Staff Talent Show

Friday at 7 p.m. teachers and administrators from and beyond will take to the high school stage to raise money for student athletics and clubs. This year marks the third year of the popular fundraiser. Friday’s is the second of two performances. Tickets are $10.

Milton art instructor Ginny Brearly is hosting an art workshop in the Children’s Room at the on Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. Children in grades 1 to 6 are invited to the session where they will create artwork using wallpaper, stencils and paint. Call 617- 898-4957 to register in advance for this free class.

The Sixteenth String Quartet performance

If children’s art isn’t your scene and you’re more into music, the Sixteenth String Quartet, a group of four Milton High School students, will be performing on Saturday at 2 to 3 p.m. in the Keys Community Room at the library. The quartet, which consists of Elizabeth Mahon (cello), Brendan Hayward (viola), Caleigh MacNeil (violin), and Amelie Carpenter (violin) has performed at venues like Symphony Hall and Harvard's Sanders Theater.

 The Big Backyard Bash

The Foundation for Education’s 12th Annual Celebration for Education is finally here. The Big Backyard Bash will be held at the Boston Quincy Marriott and will run from 6:30 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Saturday. This fundraiser, which benefits the work of the MFE in all six of the Milton Public Schools, will include a range of activities along with a silent and live . Irish Hearts for Haiti

will host the Second Annual Hearts for Haiti Benefit Dance on Sunday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Boston Marriott Quincy. The suggested donation is $20. Admission and raffle tickets are for sale at the church.
