Bring your best songs or your good listening ears over to on Friday evening for the latest in its series of open mike nights. Safe Sitter Course

is holding a “Safe Sitter” course on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. The class, for aspiring babysitters ages 11-13, will teach participants safety precautions, rescue breathing techniques, care for a choking infant or child and calling for emergency help. Fee $50; pre-registration required; call 617-696-8810. 

First Congregational Family Fest

is holding a Family Fest on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Visit vendors, exhibits, artists, crafters, family-friendly businesses, community organizations, a silent auction, bake sale and a snack bar. Kids can enjoy elephant rides, Kids Zumba, a Teddy Bear Clinic, and story time and photographs with the Cat in the Hat. Discovery Arts! Open House

will hold an open house on Sunday from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. for those interested in learning more about its art summer camp. Art workshops for tweens and teens will be offered from June 27 – August 12. Each week focuses on a different medium, including portraits, fiber arts, mixed media, charcoal and pastels, printmaking, pen and ink, and mosaics.  The cost for most workshops is just $300 per week and tuition assistance is available.

Family Concert at Franklin Park Zoo

Kick off summer vacation with a concert by Vanessa Trien and the Jumping Monkeys, Sunday from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. at the Franklin Park Zoo. There will also be an opportunity to meet some of the Zoo’s animals up-close when the zoo’s educators present an animal encounter at 10:15 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Free with zoo admission (Adults $16; children 2-12 $10; under 2 free.)
