Kick off the Season at the Lower Mills Holiday Stroll

Over 30 businesses in Milton and Dorchester will participate in the Fourth Annual Lower Mills Holiday Stroll on Thursday, November 17.

The fourth annual Lower Mills Holiday Stroll will take place on Thursday, November 17, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. in Lower Mills in Dorchester and Milton Village. Over 30 businesses will stay open late offering refreshments, special discounts, and/or displaying work from local artists.

On the Milton side, the  will be decked out in its holiday finest, and the Adams Building (60 Adams Street) will be bustling with activity at its many businesses. , , , and Daria Cassanelli will be holding their own raffle for a “Basket of Fun” which includes over $300 worth of goodies.

In the Central Avenue business district, , , and  will be open late to welcome strollers as well.

At St. Gregory’s auditorium on Dorchester Avenue, strollers can enjoy music, a balloon clown, sample food from local restaurants, and receive a free reusable shopping tote; strollers can enter the free raffle for an IPod, gift certificates and other prizes (winners to be announced the next day). At Carney, kids can have their picture taken with Santa.

The Walter Baker Artists’ Lofts (1231 Adams Street) will feature resident artists exhibiting their work in their studios and an open house at Dot Art. Anthony Sammarco, local historian and author, will be signing his books “The Baker Chocolate Company: A Sweet History”, “Milton: A Compendium” and “Dorchester: A Compendium."

Strollers can have their picture taken as La Belle Chocolatier, the famous Walter Baker Chocolate trademark. 

There will be a trolley running back and forth from the Milton and Dorchester sides; extra parking will be available at The Forbes House Museum at 215 Adams Street in Milton, and at CVS at 2235 Dorchester Avenue (across from St. Gregory’s auditorium) in Dorchester. Hot chocolate will be available at several stops along the stroll route.

The stroll will be held rain or shine. Look for the balloons and maps at all participating sites. The event is coordinated by the Lower Mills Civic Association and Lower Mills Merchants Association. Sponsors include Milton Hospital, Carney Hospital, Vargas & Vargas Insurance and Cedar Grove Gardens.
