Here are some reader responses:

Mary Ann Hogan: This goes way back, ... but The Milton Hill House on Elliot Street. Not sure when it closed, I know it had changed hands or management by the mid 90's...but it was thriving in the early 80's, and I have fond memories of going with my mom and her friends.

Nick Marinilli: Java Joes, in east Milton. Closed in I think 2005 or 2006.

Mike Bosco: Phil's Pizza! Closed in the 1990's.

Jacqueline KennedyButts: Cee Jays had the best steak and cheese subs!!! I believe they closed about 10 years ago.

Heidi Graf: Cee Jays! I LOVED their eggplant parm subs. I would crave one, call in an order and swing by!
