St. Agatha Parish Invites the Community to a Three-Day Lenten Mission

The "Faith in Challenging Times" mission will be held February 26 to 28 at St. Agatha Parish.

St. Agatha Parish in Milton will be sponsoring a three day mission on February 26 to 28 from 7 to 8 p.m. each night. The theme of the mission is “Faith in Challenging Times,” and people of all denominations and parishes are warmly invited to attend.  The mission will be held in the main church with light refreshments immediately following on the first and third nights.

Described as a “Catholic Revival,” the mission is a time of special Gospel-based preaching and prayer and is being held during the Lenten season.  Each night will have its own focus which will include the Sacrament of Reconciliation on the second night and Mass on the concluding night.  The mission will be conducted by Fr. Bill Brown, OMV, the Director of the Mission Team at Oblates of the Virgin Mary in Milton.

Fr. Brown believes these are indeed challenging times, not just for Catholics, but for people of all faiths.  Many issues, such as the overall decline in church attendance and recent horrific events like the tragedy in Newtown, CT, have led people to ask “Where is God?”  According to Fr. Brown, the mission will provide those who attend with a special moment of grace and reflection.  “The purpose of the mission is to draw people closer to God, to form a lasting and meaningful relationship with Jesus Christ, and to discover ways to put their faith into practice even in these challenging times,” Fr. Brown said.
