Wine of the Week: Cancelli Coltibuono Rosso

This week's pour is a blended red for the cooler days of September.

Cancelli Coltibuono Rosso 2010

This blend of 70 percent sangiovese and 30 percent syrah was developed as a red wine suitable for everyday use, with grapes selected from vineyards most suited to the production of young wines.

wine buyer Tim Paulus calls it "supple and velvety," highlighting its "fresh aroma of berries with a peppery note."

The good structure and moderate acidity lends itself to pairing with pasta and marinara sauce, well-seasoned roast chicken or panzanella.

Why is it necessary for Milton Patch to shill for the Fruit Center?? Are they too cheap to puechase advertising on their own?? Does Julie Fay get a cut of the sales to promote this vendor and its products? Secondly, how is this newsworthy?

I'll let the editor address the other questions, but I can assure you that I don't get a cut of the sales. I don't even get samples!

Hi John, Wine of the Week is a column that alternates between Fruit Center and Esprit du Vin. If there is a subject that you would like to see us write about either in a column or a news story, please contact me at adamr@patch.com. Thank you for your comment. Adam
