Monday Night at the Movies: "The Book Thief"

A free screening of the film "The Book Thief" will be held at the Milton Public Library this evening.  The film is based on the book of the same name by Marcus Zusak and it is the profoundly moving story of a girl who transforms the lives of those around her during World War II, Germany.  Although Liesel is illiterate when she is adopted by a German couple, her adoptive father encourages her to learn to read.  Ultimately, the power of words helps Liesel and Max, a Jew hiding in the family's home, escape from the events unfolding around them.  This program is sponsored by The Friends of the Milton Public Library and for more information, contact Jean Hlady, Adult Services Librarian, at (617) 698-5757.
