Positive Coaching Alliance comes to Milton

Milton High School's Athletic Department, the Milton High Boosters and many of the Youth Sports Leagues in town are bringing youth sports workshops to Milton coaches and parents.
These groups have joined together to bring in the Positive Coaching Alliance to present a series of free workshops to the many high school and youth coaches and parents in Milton.  The Positive Coaching Alliance is a national nonprofit dedicated to developing 'Better Athletes, Better People' by working to provide all youth and high school athletes a positive, character building youth sports experience."
"This is a great opportunity for parents and our volunteer coaches town-wide," said Margaret Carels, board member of Milton Soccer.  "We hope to see coaches and parents from all over town at these workshops, for the good of our children."
The first workshop is coming up on Monday, March 3 from 7 -9pm in the Milton High School auditorium.  It is specifically for youth coaches and will introduce PCA's Double Goal Coach Model.  This interactive workshop will present research from experts in coaching, education and sports psychology.  Every participant gains access to dozens of practical, proven tools.  All participants will receive the book The Power of Double-Goal Coaching: Developing Winners in Sports and Life.
The second and third workshops are on Wednesday, March 12 in the Milton High School Auditorium.  From 7 - 8pm, parents of youths will be introduced to the "Second-Goal Parent: Developing Winners in Life Through Sports".  This interactive workshop explores the role of a Second-Goal parent, supporting their child so that he or she has a fun, positive experience in sports.  It will examine how parents can help ensure their student-athletes' experience yield healthy, developmental (physical, social, mental) outcomes that will serve them far beyond the playing field.  A workshop for parents of high school athletes on this topic will follow from 8-9pm.
All workshops are free.
