Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton Raises over $142,000 at Annual Spring Gala

Proceeds from the Annual Spring Gala will support new digital mammography services at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton.

(BID-Milton), formerly Milton Hospital, which provides community-based health care, recently announced its annual Spring Fundraising Gala grossed more than $142,000.  All proceeds from the event support the recent implementation of new digital mammography services.

Held on May 16th at Lombardo’s in Randolph, over 350 guests enjoyed an evening of music, dinner, and silent and live auctions. Top selling items included seven night accommodations in a luxury penthouse in Kinsale, Ireland and a round of golf for four at the historic Newport Country Club. Attendees also participated in a 50/50 cash prize raffle. The cash prize winner was awarded $1,000, which was graciously donated back to the hospital.

“We are very pleased with the tremendous turn-out,” said Joseph Morrissey, president of BID-Milton. “We are proud of the important advancements now available at the hospital’s diagnostic imaging department with the implementation of digital mammography, and are always so appreciative and humbled by the support we receive from the community.”

During the event, longtime hospital volunteer, Ellen Shea, and Dr. Gregory J. Kechejian were presented with the Charles C. Winchester Distinguished Community Service Award.  This honor, inspired by the late Charles C. Winchester, a community leader and BID-Milton supporter, is bestowed upon an individual or individuals who show exemplary commitment, service, and leadership in the Milton community.

The Spring Gala, which was co-chaired by Dr. Mary Louise Ashur and Dr. George Ashur, along with Special Events Committee Chair, Carol Fallon, sought to raise specific funds for the recently implemented, state-of-the art, digital Selenia™ digital mammography system. The new system provides enhanced image quality, increased patient safety, and a number of unique features, such as softer, heated pads, and faster examination times.
