Milton 350th Anniversary Committee Plans Historic Trolley Tour

A two-hour tour around Milton's historic and significant sites is set for October 21.

The Milton 350th Anniversary Committee is sponsoring a trolley tour of historic and significant sites in Milton on Sunday, October 21.

The route will include locations all over town including familiar places like the Blue Hills Reservation, the Suffolk Resolves House and the Forbes House Museum as well as some locations off the beaten path.

“To celebrate the 350th, we wanted to give people a chance to see places in Milton they may have heard or wondered about but never actually visit.  We also have a few surprises in store,” said Mary McLaughlin, member of the committee planning the event.

The two-hour journey will begin and end at Cunningham Park on 75 Edge Hill Road.  Trolley departure times will be at 12 p.m., 12:20 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 2:50 p.m.

The Magical Milton 350th Trolley Tour will give participants the opportunity to learn about Milton’s exciting past and present.  Each trolley will have a speaker who will act as a guide as we travel around town, and various individuals who work or live at places on the tour will board the trolleys briefly at each stop to give an overview of the site.  Tour participants will stay on the trolley throughout the tour.

Every year the 5th graders in the Milton Public Schools go on a tour of historic Milton – and the Milton 350th Committee wants to give anyone who is interested the chance to learn about these same sites and more.  You will see familiar and not so familiar places and learn the story behind everything that makes our town so special.

Local businesses are encouraged to help defray costs through a $50 sponsorship fee and to donate small items for “Milton Sampler” bags that will be given to trolley tour passengers.  Any business interested in sponsorship should contact Deb Alsebai at alsebai@verizon.net.

Snacks will be provided on the tour, but participants should feel free to bring their own “brown bag” lunch.

Seating is limited so don’t delay. Order tickets today to reserve a seat on the Magical Milton 350th Trolley Tour!
