Antique Car Show and Family Picnic Day

The first annual Dorchester Park Antique Car Show and Family Picnic on Sunday, September 8th was a huge success! The event showcased a hidden gem in the heart of Dorchester - Dorchester (Dot) Park. There was something for everyone; over 60 antique cars competed for trophies while a DJ serenaded the crowd with a collection of old-time hits.

At the Family Picnic, local musicians and students from the Boston School of Music Arts provided entertainment for the families while volunteers coordinated games for kids. Children enjoyed sack races, face painting, balloon animals, and much more! Adults participated in tennis lessons and yoga. Local food trucks and vendors kept everyone well fed, along with gourmet coffee from Flatback, sliders and hotdogs from the Ledge Kitchen & Drink, and fantastic pastries from Sweetlife Bakery & Cafe.

Local merchants donated raffle prizes that ranged from Red Sox tickets to local restaurant gift cards. In combination with 50/50 raffle, over $800 was raised! The proceeds of the event will go toward making improvements on the Park as well as funding future Dorchester events.

City Councilor Frank Baker and recently-elected Senator Linda Dorcena Forry were among a number of generous sponsors who together gave $500 to fund the event. Other sponsors, donors and benefactors included Boston Bayside Properties, Cedar Grove Gardens, Dalton Finefold LLP, Hadco, Ledge Kitchen & Drinks, Meetinghouse Bank, NStar, RTN Credit Union, Smith Financial, Tri Construction, Trinity Financial, and Vargas & Vargas Insurance.
