Court Log: OUI Case Goes to Trial, Rhode Island Driver Given Probation

OUI case goes to jury in January

Charles P. Caggiano, 48, of 11 Taft Hill Park, Roslindale had charges of operating under the influence of alcohol and a marked lanes violation continued to Jan. 15 for a jury trial in Quincy District Court. The charges stem from an April 29 incident in Milton at 3:50 a.m. when police were dispatched to Reesdale Road in response to a report of a vehicle that struck a utility pole. Police administered the driver, Caggiano, field sobriety tests and charged him on suspicion of being intoxicated.

Sean M. Hall, 34, of 102 Wisteria Drive, Coventry, R.I., received probation in Quincy District Court, the period ending Sept. 10, 2013, on a charge of operating under the influence of alcohol. The judge took away Hall's license for 45 days and continued without a finding of guilty a charge of negligent operation of a vehicle until March 12, 2013.

The charges stemmed from a April 11, 2011 incident in Milton at 12:05 a.m. when state police traveling on Route 93 observed a black vehicle weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed. Police stopped the vehicle, administered Hall field sobriety tests, and arrested him on suspicion of driving drunk.

Police stated that they followed Hall's vehicle a distance of 7.5 miles and were unable to catch up with it, even at speeds of up to 120 mph.
