Milton Fire Department Investigating Cause of Three-Alarm Blaze

A Sheldon Street home caught fire early Friday morning.

A two-family Milton home sustained damage early Friday morning after a fire struck three-alarms.

Milton Deputy Fire Chief Brian Linehan said the call came in at 12:35 a.m. on Friday, November 23, for a fire that originated in a rear, second floor bedroom of 50 Sheldon Street.

According to truilia.com, 50 Sheldon Street is a three story, 2,533-square-foot multi-family, built in 1871.

According to the report, Linehan said the one resident of the home appeared not to be there at the time of the blaze. Some firefighters were mildly injured while knocking down the fire, but none seriously enough to require medical attention.

The three-alarm fire brought in aid from five area departments.

“We had Canton, Boston and Randolph come to the fire,” Linehan said. The Quincy and Stoughton Fire Departments covered Milton’s stations.

While Linehan was unsure how long it took to extinguish the fire, he said the last units were cleared at 3:15 a.m.
