Milton Woman Killed in Arkansas During Cross-Country Bicycling Trip

A Milton teen was killed when a vehicle struck a group of cyclists in Arkansas.

An 18-year-old Milton woman died Wednesday, July 3, after she and other members of her cross-country bicycling group were struck by a vehicle in McCrory, Ark.

Merritt Levitan, was one of 13 cyclists biking from Charleston, S.C. to Santa Monica, Calif., when a 21-year-old driver struck members of the group on Tuesday, according to WHDH.

Levitan died the next day in a Memphis hospital.

The six-week trip was organized by Overland, a Williamstown-based company.

According to WHDH, two people remained hospitalized after the accident. Prosecutors may file charges against the motorist.
