Police: Door Locking is Thwarting Breaking-and-Entering in Milton

There were two incidents last week in which would be thieves did not gain access to homes.

In response to a rash of home and car break-ins in Milton, police have asked residents to keep their doors locked and take similar precautionary measures. Last week, two residents who took the advice may have warded off would-be thieves in the area.

Police reported an attempted break in to a home on Rowe Street the night of Sept. 18, but the thief did not gain entry because the home was “locked and dead bolted,” according to a post on the Milton Police Facebook page Friday.

“No one in the area saw anything, but we again emphasize locking all doors and windows,” the post says. “This often frustrates potential thieves and they will look elsewhere for targets.”

Friday night, officers responded to a burglar alarm at the 100 block of Canton Avenue. There they found a broken rear window, which triggered the alarm. Again, an attempted break-in was thwarted.
