Milton Rejects Community Preservation Act

The Town of Milton will not accept the Community Preservation after voting “no” on Question 4.

With a narrow margin of 52 percent opposed, 41 percent in favor and seven percent blank ballots, the town of Milton rejected the Community Preservation Act in a ballot question on Tuesday.

Question 4, which was made possible with a Warrant Article at 2012 Annual Town Meeting, was supported by 6,454 voters and opposed by 8,255 Milton residents.

The act would have added a 1.5 percent surcharge to real property to be applied to green space, historical preservation and reasonably-priced housing.

How do you feel about the town’s vote on Question 4?

Thank you Milton voters! We already pay taxes that should be going towards these causes, no need to shell out more money.

Sweet! Seriously. Enough all ready. We'll get enough new taxes heaped on us in January. No need to add more to the pile much as liberals love to spend other people's money.

I agree...and if we really needed preservation funds, communities can apply for grants from DCR.

Relieved. We pay so much, most families can't afford this, it's a luxury not a necessity right now.

Here's another little Town Moneymaking Tidbit........The school Dept. Rents the turf field to outside groups before town sports organizations. It then charges by the hr.to the town sports to use the turf field. In thepast when I coached agroup in town that played the sport that field was meant for ,The cost was $55.00an hr. and you had to throw in for a school custodian... wnder what it is NOW?????, Funny, I thought that was PUBLIC PROPERTY!!! Maybe I Just Don't Get IT !!!!
