Milton Rejects Community Preservation Act

The Town of Milton will not accept the Community Preservation after voting "no" on Question 4.

With a narrow margin of 52 percent opposed, 41 percent in favor and seven percent blank ballots, the town of Milton rejected the Community Preservation Act in a ballot question on Tuesday.

Question 4, which was made possible with a Warrant Article at 2012 Annual Town Meeting, was supported by 6,454 voters and opposed by 8,255 Milton residents.

The act would have added a 1.5 percent surcharge to real property to be applied to green space, historical preservation and reasonably-priced housing.
