Milton Selectmen Appoint Town Administrator Screening Committee

A five-member search committee has been established to find the next Milton Town Administrator.

The Board of Selectmen has taken another step in hiring a new Town Administrator. At a meeting on Thursday, August 23, the Selectmen appointed four members to a screening committee and tagged the Government Study Committee to appoint a fifth and final member.

Each member of the board selected one member from a list of interested residents. Chair Tom Hurley nominated Leroy Walker, Bob Sweeney chose Kevin Keegan and Denis Keohane endorsed Bill White.

John Carroll, a Milton resident and general manager in Norwood will join the three residents, along with a yet-to-be-named member of the Government Study Committee.

The Selectmen also agreed to hire a consultant to assist with the search. The consultant will likely help with outreach and background checks.

The committee will be responsible for interviewing candidates and narrowing the field down for presentation to the Selectmen.

Prior to their next meeting, the Selectmen plan to solicit information from three consultants and work on search parameters.

“We have to give the committee a charge of what we’re looking for,” said Chair Tom Hurley at Thursday’s Selectmen meeting.
