Nomination Papers for 2013 Town Election Available Jan. 29

The Town Election will take place April 30.

Nomination Papers for the Town of Milton's 2013 Annual Town Election will be available on Monday, January 28, from the Town Clerk's Office.

Candidates for town-wide office must collect 50 signatures from registered voters, while Town Meeting Member candidates must collect 10 signatures from voters in their precinct.

According to an announcement from the Town Clerk's Office, "nomination papers will be given only to the candidate or a person who presents a signed authorization to secure nomination papers on behalf of a candidate."

Incumbent Town Meeting Members must file a written notice of intention with the Town Clerk by 5 p.m. on March, 5.

The deadline to file election papers is 5 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12.

The following officers will be elected in the Tuesday, April 30 Town Election:

  • One SELECTMAN and SURVEYOR OF THE HIGHWAY for a term of three years
  • A TOWN TREASURER for a term of one year
  • One ASSESSOR for a term of three years
  • Two SCHOOL COMMITTEE members for a term of three years
  • One PARK COMMISSIONER for a term of three years
  • One Member of the BOARD of HEALTH for a term of three years
  • Three TRUSTEES of the PUBLIC LIBRARY for a term of three years
  • Four CONSTABLES for a term of three years
  • One MODERATOR for a term of three years
  • One HOUSING AUTHORITY for a term of five years
  • One TRUSTEE of the CEMETERY for a term of five years
  • One PLANNING BOARD member for a term of five years

Town Meeting members as follows:

  • Precinct One: Nine for a term of three years, One for a term of two years
  • Precinct Two: Eleven for a term of three years
  • Precinct Three: Ten for a term of three years, One for a term of one year
  • Precinct Four: Eleven for a term of three years, One for a term of two years, One for a term of one year
  • Precinct Five: Nine for a term of three years
  • Precinct Six: Ten for a term of three years
  • Precinct Seven: Ten for a term of three years
  • Precinct Eight Ten for a term of three years
  • Precinct Nine: Ten for a term of three years
  • Precinct Ten: Six for a term of three years
