Would You Want a Marijuana Dispensary in Milton?

The medical marijuana ballot initiative passed on last week, which means up to 35 medical marijuana dispensaries can open in 2013. Would you be OK with having one in Milton?

Medical marijuana is coming to Massachusetts. The question is: where?

The medical marijana ballot initiative that passed in last Tuesday's election with 63 percent voter approval means that up to 35 medical marijuana dispensaries can open up in the state in 2013. Here in Milton, 57 percent of voters supported the initiative.

The new law goes into effect January 1, but requires rules and regulations be set up by the Department of Public Health.

Some towns and cities, such as neighboring Quincy, reportedly are already trying to line up regulations that would keep dispensaries out of their municipalities, which have proved troublesome in some of the nine states where medical marijuana dispensaries have been legal.

What do you think? Should Milton try to block marijuana dispensaries, or welcome one of the state's newest businesses?

In 2009, 26,000 deaths from prescription medicines. Deaths caused by marijuana...not a single one in recorded history. Several years ago, I had surgery on my right shoulder. Pain medication was prescribed..."take one capsule every 4 hours." I took one capsule. I was down for over 20 hours. When I came to, I felt like I had been hit by a truck. The next time I felt discomfort, I smoked a small amount of marijuana ...pain gone, no after effects. I threw the pills out. Then I wrote: Shoulda Robbed a Bank My contribution to helping point out just how ludicrous our pot laws truly are. I would be honored by your review.

Do not be fooled that this will be abused! Get real people, it may be good for those who suffer, I have no problem with that, but eventually the younger generation will see it as "OK" to get high! Good luck with that! Try telling your kid not to use it, it will be everywhere! This has to be controled & it WON'T BE!

I'd like to see one or more centers set up in Milton Precincts 1 and/or Precinct 2.

No thanks, keep it out of this town. Hopefully the selectman see fit to out some ordinances in place like Quincy is proposing. Once something becomes legal (even if just for medical reasons) then people start to believe it is safe and okay to abuse (just like alcohol). Once the cat is out of the bag it is hard to put back in. I wish the people of Mass were smart enough to have let this wait another election cycle and put more control over it.

Bring a dispensary in Weymouth right along route 18 with all the health centers
