Register of Deeds Announces 2012 Rest Estate Activity for Norfolk County

Real Estate activity in the county increased in all categories except foreclosures in 2012.

Norfolk County Register of Deeds William P. O’Donnell recently released a report on real estate activity in Norfolk County in 2012. Activity increased by 24 percent in all measurement categories with the exception of foreclosure deeds filed, for a total of 39,322 documents recorded at the Registry of Deeds last year.

The total volume of real estate sales increased by 26 percent from 2011 to 2012, for a total of $5,668,285,980.60. The average sale price of deeds over $1,000 for both residential and commercial properties went up by one percent countywide.

"Overall the real estate activity in Norfolk County in 2012 remained stable with positive signs of improvement over past years,” O’Donnell said in a press release.

A total of 46,554 mortgages were recorded in 2012 for a 36 percent increase.

The number of foreclosed deeds filed last year decreased by 96 with 500 fillings.
