Milton Defeats Natick 62-58

The Milton High School boys basketball team notched their first win of the season against Natick.

On January 10, there was excitement in the air at Copeland’s Field House. The Boys Varsity Wildcats were playing against the Red and Blue of Natick and Milton was looking for their first basketball win of the season.

“We really need a win tonight”, stated Coach Sean LoPresti. 

At the start of the game the Wildcats were 0-5 for the season, but tonight they were at full strength with Juwan Gooding and Colin Stanley back in the lineup.

Milton was a little sluggish at the start and Natick came out hitting all their shots. At the end of the first quarter Milton was down 25-13 and at the half Natick still had the lead 34-29.

Behind the scoring of Juwan Gooding (26 points), Tyler Greene (11 points) and Colin Stanley (10 points) the Wildcats would tie the game at 45-45 as the 4th quarter began.

Milton (1-5) would take its first lead of the game at the 6:21 mark 50-47 as their fans were cheering them on. From this point on the Wildcats would keep Natick (3-3) in deficit and pulled off their first win of the season 62-58. 

Commenting on the teams win Coach LoPresti stated, “Feels good-tough win. In the end we did the little things a little bit better than they did”.

Next up for the Wildcats will be this Friday, January 13, 2012, against Walpole at Walpole High start time is 6:30pm.
