Milton High Wins in Basketball and Wrestling

The Milton High boys basketball and wrestling teams earned victories at the same time on Tuesday evening.

On Tuesday, December 18, 2012 the Copeland Field House hosted two school athletic events at the same time. The House was jumping and that’s putting it mildly. Competition between two local high schools, Weymouth and Braintree, will always get the Milton fans to their feet.

On this night the boys basketball game was between Milton (2-1) and Braintree (0-2) and a wrestling match between Milton (6-2) and Weymouth that were only separated by a petition. You could position yourself and watch both events at the same time. The cheering was deafening and the teams were at its highest level of competition. It was no surprise that the game and match would both go down to the last minute.

While Milton and Braintree were sinking shot after shot and keeping the score tied the wrestlers were flipping all over the mat going one for one grinding out wins on both sides.

The boys basketball game went to overtime and the wrestlers were down to the deciding match.

Captain AJ Flanagan (17 points) would sink the winning shots and Kevin Simpson was pinning his Weymouth opponent both Flanagan and Simpson sealing the wins for their teams.
