Fontbonne Academy's Summer Theatre Camp Performs 'Hats'

Fontbonne Academy’s Summer Theatre Camps are in full swing this July.  With three sessions of musicals in July and early August, the youngest performers presented the musical, Hats, earlier this month.

The actors were in the first and second grade and their show was a celebratory production, focused on a wide variety of interesting hats.  This week, grades 3 - 5 will perform 101 Dalmations. The third session, for 6th graders and older, will begin on July 22 and culminate with the play, The Music Man.

Drawing on her vast experience in the arts, Carol Fortier, the theatre and music director at Fontbonne, has once again teamed up with Janine Winters, the theatre director at Saint Agatha’s School, for the summer.

Last year’s camp was such a great success that a third session was added this year.

“The kids have such a great time,” Janine Winters said, “it is amazing that they can put together an entire play in two short weeks, but they have the energy and enthusiasm to do it.”
