Milton Foundation for Education Plans Celebration for Education

The 13th Annual Celebration for Education, the Milton Foundation for Education's fundraising event, is set for March 10.

The Milton Foundation for Education (MFE) recently announced “The Big Beach Ball” as the theme of the 13th annual Celebration for Education fundraising event to be held on March 10, at the Boston Marriott Quincy in Quincy, MA.

Building off of ’s very well-received Backyard Barbecue theme, the Big Beach Ball will again preview summer, this time with a variety of surf and sand-inspired activities.  The Big Beach Ball will include the ever-popular silent and live auctions, and will raffle off a trip for two to the El Conquistador Resort in Puerto Rico.

Milton residents, Laura Conway and Meg Kaster are this year’s Celebration co-chairs. In consultation with the administration, teachers and members of the Milton Community, the co-chairs chose literacy and “hands on science” as the specific education initiatives to be funded by this year’s event.

“The foundation’s goal is to provide innovative programming and enrichment opportunities which inspire every Milton Public school student by supporting the efforts of our teachers and administration,” said event co-chair Laura Conway. “The money raised at this event truly makes a difference for our schools and our community-at-large.”

“The Milton Foundation for Education continues to be an integral component of the success of the Milton Public School system.  The organization has been true to its mission and has maintained a highly effective long-term partnership among school teachers, staff and administrators, parents, guardians and the community-at-large,” said Mary Gormley, superintendent of Milton Public Schools.

The Celebration for Education is hosted by the Milton Foundation for Education, currently celebrating its sixteenth year supporting Milton’s public schools.  Funds raised from the Celebration of Education are allocated directly to each of Milton’s public schools.

“The citizens and businesses of Milton and the surrounding areas have shown time and time again that they value education by underwriting the MFE’s fundraising efforts,” said event co-chair Meg Kaster. “The Milton Foundation for Education has worked diligently to cultivate enduring relationships with its sponsors.

"In addition to contributions from our Event-, Gold- and Silver-level sponsors, the Big Beach Ball has drawn corporate sponsorship from both local and national businesses, spanning a range of industries.  This caliber of support along with some early generous donations from individuals across Milton is an encouraging step toward meeting our goals.”

The 2012 Celebration for Education Event Sponsor is Curry College. Gold Scholar Sponsors are Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital/Milton and Jack Rabbit Design.  Silver Scholar Sponsors are Fuller Village, Hayward Photography, Musto Companies, Reebok International, and Sullivan and Company.

The Celebration committee is actively seeking additional sponsorships and auction donations as well as volunteers.  Anyone interested in volunteering time and/or expertise to the Big Beach Ball event, can visit www.miltonfoundationforeducation.org for additional information or they can email Laura Conway directly at lpconway@rcn.com to become involved.
