Friends of Milton Crew to Host Oktoberfest Fundraiser

The Friends of Milton Crew Oktoberfest celebration will be held at First Parish on October 12.

The Friends of Milton Crew are hosting an Oktoberfest celebration at the First Parish Church in Milton on October 12 at 7 p.m.

There will be a silent auction, cash bar, and great food including Brat n Brew sliders with a veggie alternative, German beer and cheddar fondue, squash and apple bisque and more. 

An iPad will be raffled off and that's just the start. Silent auction items include but will not be limited to an overnight stay at the Boston Harbor Hotel, 4 tickets to a Beanpot hockey game in February 2013, jewelry from a local designer, and handmade bag and t-shirt from Poepin Designs.

The Friends of Milton Crew manage the Milton High School rowing program, which recently achieved varsity status. The program is enjoying its 4th season on the Neponset River. The Friends are now raising funds to grow and offer a community program. They are planning a junior club program for all area students in the spring to be followed by a masters program for adults.

In its initial year and a half the Friends of Milton Crew have secured a matching $36,000 grant from the DCR to construct a dock at Neponset Park off Granite Avenue, organized and hosted the South Shore Invitational Regatta taking place this year on Oct 13, offered the community a first of its kind summer rowing program for youth at all levels of rowing from Milton Landing on Wharf Street.
