BID-Milton's Community Health Walk Accepting Grant Applications

The annual Community Health Walk at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton is planned for September 29. Non-profit organizations can apply for the grant program now through August 10.

 is now accepting applications for its annual Community Health Walk grant program. This annual walk, planned for September 29, raises funds for local community health programs and projects for up to $1,500.

“Many local non-profits struggle to fund even the smallest programs,” said hospital President Joseph Morrissey. “The funds generated by our Community Health Walk have had a significant impact in helping to launch wellness initiatives that, in turn, have a positive impact on the health of our local community.”

An application for funding may be downloaded from the hospital’s website atwww.bidmilton.org/walk2012. The deadline to apply for funding has been extended to Friday, August 10th. A review panel comprised of members of the hospital staff and community will select grant winners. Winners will notified by the end of August, and funds will be distributed after the hospital’s Community Health Walk, planned for Saturday, September 29, 2012.

Since the annual event was first held in 2010, the Community Health Walk has generated over $13,000 to support a variety of wellness initiatives, including wellness programs in schools, health screenings and education for the homeless, childcare workshops, health promotion for seniors and more.
