Amateur Gardeners Bring Garden Therapy to Senior Center

The Amateur Gardeners of Milton hosted its annual Valentine's Day event at the Council on Aging.

Beautiful flowers are a common sight on Valentine's Day. The same can be said at the Milton Council on Aging, thanks to the Amateur Gardeners of Milton. The Annual Valentine's Day Luncheon and Garden Therapy Workshop united the gardening club with Milton seniors on Thursday, February 14, for the creation of flower arrangments.  Ginny Corcoran of the Amateur Gardeners of Milton called the event, "A favorite program of the Amateur Gardeners and the seniors, who once again all worked together to create a beautiful arrangement for each senior to bring home for their enjoyment." ‘Deck Your Hall’ Winner and Town Buildings Decorated for the Holidays

The Amateur Gardeners of Milton placed many wreaths and other decorations around town.

The Amateur Gardeners of Milton have decorated several areas of Milton for the holidays, including the lucky winner of the annual “Deck Your Halls” contest. Joan Windwer of Heather Drive was this year's winner. Members of the club recently placed wreaths and planters near her front and back doorways. They also decorated the home’s interior mantel. Around town, the Amateur Gardeners decorated the Baron Hugo Gazebo at Town Hall and placed wreaths at the Milton Police Station, Milton Council On Aging, Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton and the Suffolk Resolves House. Proceeds from the annual Deck Your Hall sale go toward beautification of the town and scholarships for Milton seniors.

Amateur Gardeners of Milton Plan Annual Spring Plant Sale

Geraniums, hanging plants and annuals will all be available at the Amateur Gardeners of Milton sale at Town Hall on Saturday, May 12.

With Mother’s Day slowly approaching and planting season sneaking up on Milton, the Amateur Gardeners of Milton are here to help. The group will hold its Annual Spring Plant and Geranium Sale on Saturday, May 12 from 8 a.m. to 12  p.m. The sale will be at Town Hall, where the group recently planted a new garden near the wall in front of the Baron Hugo Gazebo. As part of a project for Milton’s 350th Anniversary, the Amateur Gardeners plan to plant more items in front of Town Hall and the two war memorials. According to member Ginny Corcoran, the sale will feature, “sturdy geraniums, lovely hanging plants for Mother's Day and assorted annuals for your planters and window boxes.” Members of the club will be on hand to help with plant …
