Friday marks the last day of February Vacation for students in Milton, but it also marks the date of the rescheduled visit to the Blue Hills Ski Area for the Fox 25 Morning News crew. The crew's "On the Slopes" segment was originally slated to take place on Friday, Feb. 8, but was postponed due to the impending conditions fo the Blizzard of 2013. The news team has been visiting a different New England mountain every Friday since Jan. 11, and this week will give an insider's look at planning the perfect ski getaway or ski day locally. Those who pre-registered for the Feb. 8 event are still registered for the rescheduled date, today, Feb. 22. The segment will from from 7 to 10 a.m. today. West Roxbury's Wicked Sharp Ski and Sport having a very successful winter despite the lack of snow. This weekend's carnival at the Blue Hills Ski Area features ski and snowboard competitions with prizes, free BBQ and carnival fun.
It may feel like spring, but for skiers and snowboarders, winter is finally arriving this weekend. On Saturday, Wicked Sharp Ski and Sport is hosting a Wicked Winter Carnival at Blue Hills in Canton. Come Saturday, several skiiers and snowboarders will like Wicked Sharp more if they win the $300 first prize, $150 second prize, or $50 third prize at the Wicked Sharp Ski and Sport Winter Carnival at Blue Hills–also sponsored by Snowriders. "This Saturday we’re doing a winter carnival from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.," Co-owner J.P. Bedard said. "There will be a bunch of free games for kids to do, like carnival games–hula hoop with all heavy, snow clothing on, snowball accuracy, a version of a ring toss, throwing a hat onto a snowman’s head," …
