Milton Police Locate Stolen Piano

Officer Christopher Ernst and Detective Kristen Clifford were recently commended for solving a larceny case involving a baby grand piano.

Milton Police Chief Richard Wells Jr. provided the following narrative. The commendation is part of an ongoing series recognizing Milton officers for excellence in police service. On October 9, 2011 at 12:30 in the afternoon, Officer Christopher Ernst responded to 33 Longwood Road on a report of a past break and larceny. The homeowner of this residence recently passed away and an estate sale company had been engaged to sell off all of the property. The estate company sold off all of the assets of the home with the exception of a baby grand piano valued at $11,000. The liquidator advised Officer Ernst that she had stopped to check on the residence and realized that the piano was missing. She stated that she contacted everyone associated …

Milton Officers Locate Suspect Wanted for Store Break-in

Officers Michael Cherry and Jason Conklin were recently recognized for arresting a breaking and entering suspect.

Milton Police Chief Richard Wells Jr. provided the following narrative. The commendation is part of an ongoing series recognizing Milton officers of excellence in police service. On June 22, 2011 at approximately 4:30 in the morning, Milton Control took several 911 calls reporting a male subject throwing rocks at the windows at Metrakas Convenience Store on Pleasant Street. One caller reported that the suspect was forcibly trying to enter the store. Officers Michael Cherry and Jason Conklin determined that the front door had been smashed in and they quickly located three juvenile males on the opposite side of the street. Milton Cadet Honored for Providing Life-Saving Instructions

Cadet Michael Grant was recently recognized for providing Heimlich Maneuver instructions to a 911 caller.

Milton Police Chief Richard Wells Jr. provided the following narrative. The commendation is part of an ongoing series recognizing Milton officers of excellence in police service. On October 10, 2011 at 1:25 in the afternoon, Cadet Michael Grant took a frantic 911 call from a female resident of Canton Avenue. The woman stated that her 21-year-old son was actively choking. Cadet Grant calmly gave Heimlich Maneuver instructions to the mother. Although initial efforts to help her son failed, Cadet Grant continued to direct her through various aspects of the Heimlich Maneuver. Cadet Grant’s performance allowed this woman to dislodge the object from her son’s airway. By the time Fallon arrived, the crisis had been terminated.

Traffic Stop Leads to Possession of Marijuana Arrests

Milton Police Officers Christopher Ernst, Christopher Potts and Liam Roper were recently recognized for a June incident that uncovered several bags of marijuana and led to two arrests.

Milton Police Chief Richard Wells Jr. provided the following narrative. The commendation is part of an ongoing series recognizing Milton officers of excellence in police service. On June 13, 2011 at 5:45 p.m., Officers Christopher Ernst and Christopher Potts were conducting stationary radar on Brook Road at Churchills Lane when they observed a silver vehicle with New York registration traveling at 50 mph, 20 miles per hour above the posted 30 mph zone. The officers signaled this vehicle, which was occupied by three males, to stop. Officer Potts, on his initial approach, immediately detected strong odors of raw marijuana. He engaged the operator in conversation. The man was extremely nervous and his hands were shaking. Officer Ernst joined …

Milton Officer Recognized for Stopping 'Alarming' Behavior

Officer Michael Cherry was recently honored for responding to a case in which an adult male approached two young females at the Milton Public Library.

Milton Police Chief Richard Wells Jr. provided the following narrative. The commendation is part of an ongoing series recognizing Milton officers of excellence in police service. On June 26, 2011, two teenage female residents were in the Milton Public Library on Canton Avenue. The victims came to the Police Station to report that a male subject, approximately 25 years of age with a distinctive dreadlock hairstyle, had followed them from the library in a gray vehicle. The man, who had first encountered them inside the library, followed them all the way home, approximately one mile, to Churchill Street. The girls obtained the registration number, which came back to a residence on Blue Hill Avenue. That residence is home to a male who fit the…

Milton Police Officer Honored for Larceny Arrest

Officer Patricia Lio was commended by the Milton Police Department for the arrest of two men who allegedly stole copper downspouts from a Brush Hill Road home.

Milton Police Chief Richard Wells Jr. provided the following narrative. The commendation is part of an ongoing series recognizing Milton officers of excellence in police service. On May 2 at 1 p.m. Milton Control received a 911 call that two males had just stolen the copper downspouts from a residence on Brush Hill Road. Milton Control advised all units that the suspects had fled the scene in a Jeep Cherokee with the identification signs of a tow company from Hyde Park affixed to the outer doors. Approximately 10 minutes later, Officer Patricia Lio, who was on patrol in East Milton, observed and stopped the suspects. Milton Officer Commended for Apprehension of Breaking and Entering Suspect

Officer Jason Conklin was recognized by the Milton Police Department for the arrest of a Felony Breaking and Entering suspect.

Milton Police Chief Richard Wells Jr. provided the following narrative. The commendation is part of an ongoing series recognizing Milton officers of excellence in police service. The town has been plagued over the past two years with nighttime car B&E’s, and nearly all of these crimes have been perpetrated by individuals who are drug dependent. On March 30, 2011 Officer Jason Conklin was on marked cruiser patrol at about 2 a.m. Officer Conklin pulled onto Allerton Road when he saw a male subject breaking into a parked motor vehicle at a residence. Upon detection, the suspect immediately fled on food into the neighborhood. Officer Conklin pursued this man on foot for approximately 10 minutes. Officer Conklin successfully apprehended this …

Police Sergeant and Patrolman Recognized for Marijuana Seizure

Sgt. Daniel Brown and Officer Christopher Potts were commended for an arrest that uncovered 12 pounds of marijuana in February 2011.

Milton Police Chief Richard Wells Jr. provided the following narrative. The commendation is part of an ongoing series recognizing Milton officers of excellence in police service. In February of 2011, Sgt. Daniel Brown, while on marked cruiser patrol observed an Acura sedan speeding on Central Avenue. Upon seeing the marked unit, the operator of this vehicle attempted to elude Sgt. Brown by entering the Columbine neighborhood. A broadcast was given to all units. The vehicle was subsequently located and stopped by Officer Christopher Potts. Based on this stop and the investigation that followed, 12 pounds of marijuana were recovered from the vehicle. Milton Officers Commended for Vehicle Break-in Arrest

In July of 2011, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Patrol Officers Liam Roper, Russell Withrow and Joseph Bennett along with Sgt. Thomas Wilson, were dispatched to Willoughby Road for a citizen who reported seeing a suspicious male attempting to enter motor vehicles. Nighttime car breaks have plagued the metro Boston area for months and the observations by this citizen prove key in this crime. Upon their arrival, the witness described to the officers that she had observed a male subject smoking a cigarette, going car to car, attempting to gain entry. This witness …

Eleven officers or personnel at the Milton Police Department were recently commended by Chief Richard Wells, Jr.

Recently, the Milton Police Department recognized 10 officers and one cadet for excellent police service. Among those commended were Patrol Officers Joseph Bennett, Michael Cherry, Christopher Ernst, Patricia Lio, Christopher Potts, Liam Roper and Russell Withrow, Detective Kristen Clifford, Sergeants Daniel Brown and Thomas Wilson and Cadet Michael Grant.
