Friends of the Milton Public Library Annual Meeting to Feature Dessert Tasting

Clare Garland from Ashmont Grill will present a dessert demonstration and tasting at the annual meeting of the Friends of the Milton Public Library.

The Friends of the Milton Public Library annual meeting, which is scheduled for Sunday, May 19, at 2 p.m., will feature a special tasty addition this year.  Clare Garland, the pastry chef at the Ashmont Grill, will hold a dessert demonstration and tasting at the meeting this weekend. The meeting will take place in the library's Keys Community Room. The public is invited to the meeting, but reservations are required. Call 617-698-8003 or visit the events page on miltonlibrary.org to reserve a seat. Garland, a Newberry College graduate, has worked at Ashmont Grill for the past seven years.

Milton Library Opens Voting for Sept. 14 Teen Movie

Teens can select one of four movies by voting online.

The Teen Services Department of the Milton Public Library will show an after-school movie for students in grades six through 12 on Friday, September 14, at 3 p.m. The featured presentation is yet to be determined, however, as the department is allowing the potential movie-goers to pick the flick. The four choices are: Teens can view the trailers of each movie at http://www.miltonlibrary.org/teen.asp. Voting for the movie closes on September 10. Friends of the Library Hold Annual Bag Sale

For just $5 library patrons can purchase a bag of books, which will benefit programming by the Friends of the Milton Public Library.

The Friends of the Milton Public Library is currently holding its Annual Summer Bag Sale. Shoppers can purchase used books for a low price, while funding a variety of programs and events at the library. The Friends Book Shop, which is located on the lower level of the Milton Public Library, is offering a bag of books for just $5, now through August 31. “The Friends Book Shop raised more than $12,000 last year, and at an average price of about $1 per book, that's a large number of books sold,” said Connie Spiros of the Friends of the Milton Public Library. Through the book shop the organization funds all of the programming at the library as well as discount museum passes and the library’s free music download system, Freegal. The shop hours …
