Hockey and basketball teams from Milton High School and Fontbonne Academy will participate in the MIAA tournaments that begin this week.
Fonbonne Academy and Milton High Square off in Girls Hockey The girls hockey teams from Fontbonne Academy and Milton High School will face off in the preliminary round of the MIAA Division 2 South Sectional Tournament on Tuesday, February 26. Fontbonne Academy is the 14th seed, while Milton High earned a 19th seed in the tournament. The game will be held at Shea Rink, 651 Willard Street, Quincy, at 4 p.m. The winner of this contest will play third-seeded Wellesley. The Wildcats head coach was honored after his team appeared in its third consecutive MIAA state sectional tournament.
After a 10-win Bay State League season and a first round MIAA postseason win, Milton High School boys soccer coach Mike Madden was named one of the Eastern Massachusetts Coaches of the Year. Madden earned the honor for the Division 2 South category after leading the Wildcats to a third straight MIAA state sectional tournament. Milton High, 20th seed, upset 13th-ranked Norwell High School in the first round of this year’s tournament before falling to fourth-seeded Hingham in the second round. The Wildcats went 5-1 this season against other Division 2 opponents. Hingham was the only D2 team to defeat Milton. Bedford coach Dave Boschetto won the Division 2 North Coach of the Year honor.

The Milton High boys hockey team just finished an impressive season. The Wildcats secured solid wins throughout the regular season and tournament to earn the program’s first appearance in the MIAA Division 1 championship games. Though Burlington High School defeated Milton 6-2 on Sunday night at the TD Garden in Boston, the Wildcats had a year to remember. In that spirit, let’s commemorate the hockey team’s run with photos and videos from the 2012 season. Students and faculty at Milton High sent off the boys hockey team as they prepare for the Division 1 state title game on Sunday.
About 1,000 members of the Milton High School community gathered in the Copeland Field House on Friday afternoon for a pep rally for the Milton High boys hockey team. The Wildcats will face Burlington High on Sunday, March 18, at 8:15 p.m. at the TD Garden for the MIAA Division 1 state championship game. Coach Paul Noonan and the team's senior captains all addressed the members of "Red Nation."

The Wildcats will play in the MIAA Division 1 championship game on Sunday against Burlington High School.
The senior-heavy group that makes up the Milton High School boys hockey team have a history of winning and a history of playing together. Many of the players won youth hockey titles together and have been part of the Milton baseball program. The team’s camaraderie, especially off the ice, will guide the Wildcats in what seventh-year head coach Paul Noonan believes is Milton High School’s first appearance in the boys hockey state championship game. “They’re friends first and teammates second,” said Noonan.
