Two Milton roads will be closed Sunday into Monday due to repairs.
Chickatawbut Road and Wampatuck Road through the Blue Hills Reservation will be closed December 2 and 3 while the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority (MWRA) removes construction equipment used for repairs in the area. The roads will be closed to all traffic starting at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 2 until Monday, December 3, when they will be reopened in the afternoon. Signs will be placed in the area to remind drivers of the closures. Chickatawbut and Wampatuck were closed on November 18, 19, 26 and 27 for the repair work.

Fall Town Meeting will have the opportunity to drop water rates from and increase of 7.8 percent to 7.43 percent.
The Milton Board of Selectmen have approved a 7.8 percent increase in water bills, which after the October 22 Town Meeting, could be lowered slightly to a 7.43 percent increase. The increase in water rates and a 5.35 percent in sewer rates are for Fiscal Year 2013, which began on July 1, 2012. The increased rates, set by the MWRA (Massachusetts Water Resources Authority), have increased steadily in recent years. Besides the water and sewer enterprises, the assessment also goes toward the authority’s debt service. The Massachusetts Water Resources Authority recently released its Annual Water Quality Report, which includes general information as well as town-specific test results. A hard copy of the report is being sent to each household, but a PDF of the Milton report is available here. Below is the MWRA release about the Annual Water Quality Report. MWRA recently repaired a leak in a water line on Adams Street. This line will be reactivated on Wednesday, February 15, 2012 and this work may cause discolored water in area surrounding the intersection of Reedsdale Road, Central Avenue and Brook Road, east to the Expressway for up to three days. Residents of Lower Mills, within the area of River Street to Gallivan Boulevard and east to Dorchester Avenue, may also experience discolored water as a result of this work. If discolored water does occur, it is a result from a small amount of iron in local pipes. While it is still safe for drinking, cooking and other uses, please note that iron will stain light colored items in your laundry, especially when bleach is used. Residents near this …

Beginning Monday, December 19, MWRA will be performing final work to bring the Southern Spine water main project on-line. This work may cause discolored water in area surrounding the intersection of Reedsdale Road, Central Avenue and Brook Road, east to the Expressway for up to three days.
