State Police Arrested 1,100 More for OUI in 2012

Massachusetts State Police and local police departments will be out this holiday weekend looking for drunk, impaired and dangerous drivers.

Drunk driving arrests by Massachusetts State Police increased by 30 percent or more than 1,100 drivers, said Massachusetts State Police Superintendent Colonel Timothy Allen at a press conference outside of Massachusetts State Police headquarters in Framingham Friday morning. As of yesterday, Dec. 27, Massachusetts State Police had arrested 4,866 individuals and charged them with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. In 2011, Massachusetts State Police arrested 3,728 individuals. Traffic Enforcement Ramps Up During Holiday Season

Troopers from all over New England want to help local drivers stay safe and prevent crashes during the holiday season.

The holidays are upon us, and many residents will be traveling this week to see family and friends all across New England. State Police are doing their part to help ensure these visits don't end in tragedy because of impaired or distracted driving. The Massachusetts State Police joined forces with other New England State Police divisions at headquarters in Framingham to explain their C.A.R.E program. Increased patrols this week will be cracking down on impaired/drunk driving, texting while driving and seatbelt law violations, among other things. State Police Investigating Late Night Fatal Crash in Milton

A Milton man was killed in a single-car crash Thursday night.

At 11:35 on Thursday night troopers from the Massachusetts State Police Barracks in Milton responded to a single-car crash on Truman Parkway in Milton that claimed the life of the driver. Responding patrols found the driver trapped inside the 1992 Lexus LS-400 he was driving. Boston Fire extricated the victim and Boston EMS transported him to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased. He was identified as Darner Alteon, 20, of Milton. The car had no other occupants.  Preliminary investigation by Troop H of the Massachusetts State Police, with the assistance of the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section, indicates that the Lexus was travelling north on …

Hiker Finds Body in Blue Hills

State Police are investigating a body that was found off Wompatuck Road on Thursday.

A hiker located a man’s body in the Blue Hills Thursday, according to the report on Boston.com. A State Police spokesman told the Boston Globe, the man’s body was found 30 yards into the woods off Wompatuck Road in Milton. According to the report, David Traub, a spokesman for the Norfolk district attorney’s office, said foul play was not suspected.

Randolph Man Arrested For Lewd Act in Blue Hills

Massachusetts State Police arrested Walter V. Pimentel on Saturday evening for allegedly committing an indecent act in a vehicle on the Blue Hills Reservation.

A Randolph man was arrested on Saturday, August 11, for allegedly committing a lewd act, while naked in a vehicle in the area of the Blue Hills Reservation known as “The Outlook.” Walter V. Pimentel, 55, was charged with Indecent exposure, Open and gross lewdness, subsequent offense, Lewd and lascivious conduct, OUI liquor 5th offense, Open container, alcohol, Operating with a suspended license for OUI and Operating with a revoked license as a Habitual Traffic Offender. Milton Police Officer Still on Leave with Hand Injury

A Medford man, who allegedly slammed an officers hand in a car door in June, was arraigned in Chelsea District Court on Wednesday.

A Milton Police Officer is still on medical leave and a Medford man was arraigned Wednesday relating to an incident that occurred on Granite Avenue in Milton on June 19. Massachusetts State Police took Michael Ritson, 31, of Medford, into custody on three active default warrants from three different courts including one for unarmed robbery on Tuesday, August 7. During the June incident, Ritson was the passenger in a vehicle driven by Moises Tevenal, 46, of Roxbury. According to Deputy Chief Charles Paris, Tevenal was pulled over by Officer Beth Coska for a traffic violation. Officer Wanda Craig arrived on the scene as backup. State Police Arrest Medford Man for Injuring Milton Officer

Michael Ritson, 31, of Medford, was arrested Tuesday after an incident that resulted in a hand injury for a Milton Police Officer.

At 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, troopers from the State Police Barracks in Revere were successful in searching for and arresting a man in Chelsea that was wanted for injuring a Milton Police Officer back in June. Troopers Michael Haines and Mark Gajewski had received information on the possible location of Michael Ritson, 31, of Medford. Ritson had three active warrants out for his arrest stemming from an incident that left a Milton Police Officer with a hand injury. A previous attempt to arrest Ritson was unsuccessful as he drove off on his motorcycle before he could be taken into custody. Troopers waited until the observed Ritson park his motorcycle before approaching him. Ritson correctly identified himself and was taken into custody for three …

Injured Fourth of July Puppy Named for State Troopers who Protected Him

A five to six month old puppy was found abandoned in the Blue Hills with a broken leg on the Fourth of July.

The Milton Animal League is seeking information about how a puppy with a broken leg was left alone on Chichatawbut Road on the Fourth of July. The Animal League is also reaching out to the public to help fund his $5,000 emergency surgery. “This little guy is only five to six months old and has a sweet and loving personality,” said Animal Control Officer Nancy Bersani in a release from the MAL. “He deserves every chance and we intend to give him that chance.” On July 4th, Bersani was called to the State Police barracks in the Blue Hills. A Good Samaritan had stopped to pick up an injured dog that was limping in the middle of Chickatawbut Road. Stolen Vehicle Involved in I-93 Accident, Boston Manhunt

A Reading man was arrested Monday after he stole vehicle, which was seen in Milton, drove the wrong way on several Boston streets and the highway and eventually caused an accident.

Earlier in the day on Monday, January 16, Milton Police put out a BOLO (Be on the Look Out) alert for a 2010 Dodge Caravan minivan that had been reported stolen from Grava Chrysler in Medford and subsequently observed in Milton. At 11:59 a.m., Massachusetts State Police Sgt. Michael Fiore, of the K-9 Section, observed the stolen Caravan on Adams Street in Dorchester. The suspect vehicle, driven by a man and carrying a female passenger, refused to stop for the trooper. Sgt. Fiore requested authorization to pursue the stolen vehicle; State Police Troop H headquarters in South Boston authorized the pursuit and assumed command and control. Jack-Knifed Tractor-Trailer Causes Traffic Snag on I-93

Two lanes of Route 93 northbound in Milton were closed Wednesday after a one-vehicle accident.

Two lanes of Route 93 northbound were closed for approximately 20 minutes on Wednesday afternoon after a tractor-trailer jack-knifed across the highway, according to State Police. At 12:37 p.m. on Wednesday, several callers reported a tractor-trailer was overturned on Route 93 between exits 9 and 10. The highway was closed temporarily while EMS workers tended to the driver and the vehicle was removed. The operator of the truck was transported by ambulance to Boston Medical Center with minor injuries, according to State Police. The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by the State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Section.
